On Saturday, June 7, 2025, East Point, Georgia, will once again host Drag Down South, a free, open-air drag extravaganza on the steps of East Point City Hall. Running from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM, this event invites attendees to bring lawn chairs and coolers for an evening of vibrant performances and community celebration.

A Stage for Visibility and Resistance
Drag Down South is more than a showcase of talent; it’s a statement of resilience and pride. Hosted by the Atlanta Eagle, the event was conceived as a response to increasing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, aiming to affirm the presence and rights of the drag community . Richard Ramey, owner of the Atlanta Eagle, emphasized the importance of such events in providing performers with a platform to express themselves and support their livelihoods.
Honoring a Rich Drag Heritage
East Point’s connection to drag culture is longstanding. The city has been home to iconic performances and venues that have nurtured the art form. Events like Drag Down South continue this legacy, celebrating the diversity and creativity of Southern drag artists.
