Party With Impact
Friday, December 2
Variety Playhouse
Positive Impact Health Centers provides client-centered care for the HIV community to have a life worth loving. Their Party With Impact! raises funds for AIDS services and prevention in Atlanta, and Peach spoke to Olivia Chelko, VP of Development and Communications, about goals, awareness, and who will be on stage for the night.
Your Party With Impact! has had numerous iterations over the years. This year, it’s a comedy show. Can you tell us more about what is in store at the event?
Party With Impact changes every year. We do art auctions, comedy shows, and concerts. A few years ago, we did a comedy show with Leslie Jordan at Center Stage for the event.
This year, we are thankful that Sam Jay has agreed to come to Atlanta and do a show to raise money for HIV services and prevention in Atlanta.
Sam Jay is a stand-up comic and Emmy-nominated writer (Saturday Night Live). She hosts and executive produces HBO’s Pause with Sam Jay, a weekly late-night series currently in production for its second season. In 2020, she debuted her first Netflix one-hour stand-up special, Sam Jay: 3 in the Morning. Up next, she is on the Peacock series Bust Down.
Why is throwing a big party or having an event like this an excellent way to raise money?
We always have event sponsors that cover the costs of events. Ticket sales for this event go directly to PIHC services and care. This event also helps bring in individuals that might need services but need to learn about the work of our agency. Our goal is to raise 75K for needed HIV care in Atlanta. It also educates the community and those in the room about our services in metro Atlanta.
Positive Impact Health Centers has done some fantastic work this year to provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS and curb the MPX outbreak. How did you achieve all this?
We are incredibly proud to have never closed our doors during COVID. We had to adjust how services were received but also accelerated many new programs – like Telemedicine, Condoms by Mail, and free HIV home testing kits. Incredibly proud of the staff and their work during syndemics – HIV, COVID-19, Monkeypox, Substance Abuse, and Mental Health.
How can the community get involved with Positive Impact Health Centers?
We always are looking for people to join our AIDS Walk Team and AIDS Vaccine 200 Cycle Team every year. You can find more ways to volunteer on our website – PIHCga.org.
How can we attend the Party With Impact! Comedy Show?
