World AIDS Day is an unusual mix of emotions.  We celebrate the advances we have made—and, there are many.  We pay tribute and remember the millions we have lost to the pandemic.  We call upon and inspire each other to keep fighting to care for people living with HIV, and prevent new HIV infections.  We reenergize and refuel our hope for a cure and a vaccine. The mixture of emotions makes me say we commemorate the day with the rest of the world.

Together We Rise is a first-time collaboration for World AIDS Day between AID Atlanta and Positive Impact Health Center.  We are ‘sister’ organizations and truly respect and support each other’s amazing efforts.  The event is a high-end commemoration that often includes testimonials, performances,  a fashion show, award presentations and music.  The event kicks off with a mixer, buffet dinner, and presentation.  Guests 21 and over are welcome to attend to commemorate the day.

The Theme: Together We Rise speaks to the national theme of collective action in the past, present and future.  We pay tribute those we have lost by fighting for our friends and family living with HIV and working to prevent new HIV infections.

Together We Rise is both a prayer and a commemoration.
