2018 ATLANTA PRIDE ANNOUNCES NEW FESTIVAL ELEMENT & THE OPENING
OF THE 2018 PARADE GRAND MARSHAL NOMINATION PERIOD

Atlanta, Georgia. – Today the Atlanta Pride Committee (APC) announced that they would be introducing a curated art show as a part of the 2018 Atlanta Pride Festival. Jamie Fergerson, APC Executive Director said of the effort, “We are introducing this new component to the festival as a direct result of community feedback.” Fergerson continued, “What we heard was that the Artist Market Booth pricing was out of reach for many crafters and there was no space for independent artists to exhibit. We listened, and this exciting new element is our response!” The application period for exhibitor candidates will be open from March 15-May 1. The announcement of those accepted will be made on May 20, 2018.

The Atlanta Pride Committee is looking for art that is relevant to Atlanta’s LGBTQ community and will ensure that selections are across various consumer price points. Accessibility and diversity are key parts of the APC’s commitment to inclusion and as such, they encourage artists and work that reflect this, to apply. Pieces across a wide range of mediums will be considered, including: painting, sketching, woodworking, photography, hand-crafted items and more. Size specifications are limited to what will fit on an 8’ table or an equivalent area. For the full application and more information, please visit http://atlantapride.org/applications.

The APC also noted today that their application period for the 2018 Atlanta Pride Parade Grand Marshal’s will be open from March 15-April 20.

The Atlanta Pride Committee works to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and non–profit organizations by selecting several each year to serve as Grand Marshals for their annual parade. Atlanta Pride Committee Executive Director, Jamie Fergerson, said of the opportunity, “Atlanta Pride is committed to recognizing the outstanding work of often unsung heroes in our community. A great way for us to accomplish this is through our Grand Marshal selection process. We would very much like to see a diverse group of Grand Marshals this year, so we strongly encourage people from across our community to nominate those individuals or groups whose work or volunteerism has benefited Atlanta’s LGBTQ community, no matter how great or small. Their work matters.”

2018 Grand Marshals will be announced during the first week of June.
Please note that Entertainment and Artist Market applications also open March 15.
Food Vendor, and Volunteer applications will be available soon. Please check our
