Guo Pei: Couture Beyond at SCAD FASH

The impressive SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film presents “Guo Pei: Couture Beyond” – a landmark exhibition of more than 30 of the designer’s grandest, most dramatic gowns from the past decade, alongside a selection of her prêt-à-porter dresses and jackets. Guo Pei was the first Chinese national designer invited to join the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.

In her fantastical, unrestrained creations, Guo Pei imbues contemporary high fashion with ancient tradition, invoking history and mythology through intricate craftsmanship, opulent embroidery, and sumptuous detail.

Featured prominently in the exhibition is the now-iconic imperial yellow cape worn by Rihanna to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in 2015 — a seminal moment that introduced Guo Pei to America’s fashion cognoscenti.

SCAD FASH exhibits the couture creations in the most beautiful and creative ways, and if you haven’t been to an art show at the beautifully renovated museum, you are in for a treat – apart from world-class exhibitions you will also get a fantastic view over Atlanta’s Mid- and Downtown area.

“Guo Pei: Couture Beyond” runs until March 4 so consider this your last call.
