Ready, Table, SET!

By Mik Hyldebrandt

Half the experience of a meal can often be attributed to how well the table is set. Good utensils, a little décor, a few clever details, and a nice presentation of the food can make even the most standard meal come off stellar. Here are a few tips for setting the table for an even more special holiday dinner.

Runner for the Money

No need for a full Christmas-themed tablecloth, but a nice little runner with a Holiday motif gives the table structure and a dash of something extra.

Proper Glassware

Having a glass for both white and red wine adds a touch of elegance to your table setting and signals to guests that they are being treated to several courses of food paired with wine.

Wow with Water Glasses

An easy way to add a touch of luxury to your table? Use your whiskey cocktail glasses as water glasses!

For the Little Dab

Napkins are great for adding a color theme to the table, and if you invest in cloth napkins, it adds another element of indulgence to the table. A well-chosen napkin ring will make for a really nice touch as well.

In Your Place

For the extra detail-oriented, you can add place cards in themed place card holders – this signals that you have thought about how to seat guests to ensure the best possible flow of the evening.

Setting the Mood

A candle-lit supper doesn’t require elaborate candelabras – little sparkly tea lights will definitely do the trick and even add a little dazzle.

Served Right

You don’t need a full set of serving trays and bowl to wow your guests. A single, decorative serving bowl for the main dish will look appetizing on its own.

The Plush Life

If you’re in the mood for something a little more elaborate for the festive meal, consider wrapping the chairs in holiday-themed bows. It certainly extends the feeling of lavishness.
