Gay marriage is still relatively new, so there really isn’t a universal blueprint to how it should be, but for many, the commitment of marriage starts with the never-ending circle of a ring. So do you go with tradition or do you forego tradition altogether when choosing a symbol of your love? Here are some traditional and not so traditional choices.

Traditional
Iconic, classic, and classy. Traditional wedding rings appeal to a lot of LGBT couples because it is the most recognizable symbol of their commitment to love.
It doesn’t get any more traditional than a simple gold wedding band

Who says you can’t have a few stones in your wedding band? After all, it signifies precious love!

Another way to show unity is to get a matching ring set

A ring can easily be a little more substantial on a man’s hand, so try a flat instead of a domed shape.

Other precious metals look just as great as silver and gold. Titanium, for instance, looks amazing and it can be finished almost any way you’d like.

Non-Traditional
Since there is no blueprint for gay marriage, why not forego tradition altogether and choose alternative symbols of your love?
A simple way to move away from tradition is to choose an unexpected material – like textured meteorite which screams ‘love you to the moon and back.’

Keep it simple and inexpensive. A wooden ring looks cute, and you could possibly make it yourself for that extra adorable gesture.

Who says a symbol of love needs to be a ring? A nice watch would be a great symbol to exchange since you would automatically look at it every day.

Put a ring on it – but not your finger … An engraved cockring is far from traditional but both romantic and sexy.
