Run with Pride: Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ 5K Tradition Returns June 1

Edited by Mikkel Hyldebrandt

Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ community is lacing up once again for one of the city’s most beloved traditions: the Pride Run ATL 5K, happening Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Piedmont Park. Organized by Front Runners Atlanta, this annual event blends fitness, visibility, and activism—all in support of local HIV/AIDS charities.

A Legacy of Love and Resilience

Founded in 1991 during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, Front Runners Atlanta created the Southeast’s first LGBTQIA+ run to raise awareness and funds for those affected by HIV. What began as the Gay and Lesbian Pride Day Run has evolved into Pride Run ATL, a vibrant celebration of community and perseverance. Since its inception, the event has raised over $500,000 for Atlanta-based organizations, including AID Atlanta, Lost-N-Found Youth, Bridge of Light, and Inclusive Recovery.
