Calling all champions of equality and advocates for LGBTQ+ rights! It’s that time of year again—the Atlanta Pride Committee is thrilled to announce that nominations are officially open for Grand Marshals of the 2024 Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade.
Since its inception in 1992, Atlanta Pride has been a beacon of inclusivity and celebration, honoring individuals and organizations who have made remarkable contributions to the LGBTQ+ community in Georgia. Grand Marshals stand as ambassadors, representing the diverse voices and experiences that make our community vibrant and resilient.
Crystal Stubbs, Atlanta Pride Board Chair, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to open Grand Marshal nominations for this year’s festival and parade. Grand Marshals play a vital role in our celebration, and we are eager to honor those who have worked tirelessly to uplift and empower the LGBTQ+ community in Georgia.”
Nominations for Grand Marshals are open to individuals and organizations who have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Georgia. While nominees should have strong ties to the local and state communities, national and international contributions will also be considered.
“We encourage members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies alike to nominate deserving individuals and organizations for this prestigious honor,” added Stubbs. “Grand Marshals represent the heart and soul of our community, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements.”
Nomination forms for Grand Marshals can be submitted through May 1, 2024. Each nomination requires a separate form to be completed. Nominees should be made aware of their nomination before submission and be willing to serve as Grand Marshals if selected.
It’s important to note that Grand Marshals do not receive financial compensation for their participation. Additionally, the Atlanta Pride Committee does not accept nominations of individuals currently running for political office.
