Fur Ball Masquerade “To Oz”

Saturday, November 12, 7-10 pm

Buckhead Club

Since 1990 PALS has provided ongoing care and support to the pets of Atlanta area persons living with critical illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and cancer, the disabled, and the elderly. David Lile, an active volunteer with PALS, talked to Peach about what to expect somewhere over the rainbow and at the end of the yellow brick road.

The Fur Ball Masquerade is back! This year, it’s Wizard of Oz themed. Can you share what else you have in store for us all at the event?

The planning committee is pulling out all the stops with theme decor and entertainment. There will be a wine pull where for $25, you can purchase a numbered bottle and win a good everyday or special occasion bottle of wine or even a commemorative Lady Gaga Dom Perignon! There will also be a silent auction. I help PALS secure signed playbills and posters from Broadway Cares each year, and they have several hotel stays, signed original art pieces, pet baskets, gift certificates, and other unique items. It’s a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping, all for a great cause!

What do you hope to achieve with this year’s Fur Ball Masquerade to Oz?

To celebrate the healing power of the human-animal bond. Dorothy and Toto were separated in Oz, but with the help of a colorful and very caring cast of characters, they were reunited. We want everyone to know that this is the work of PALS.

We’re obsessed with your bingo nights at Lips – what are the upcoming themes?

Our Drag Queen Bingo is our most beloved event. On November 8, the theme is Rocky Horror, and on December 13, we celebrate the “Holidaze.” As you know, LIPS always has over-the-top décor installations for the holidays, so these next two months will be spectacular. Add to that performances by our drag queens Ericka Lee, Desiree Storm, Justice, and Charmaine St. Clare, and $1100 in bingo payouts; you get the best value in town for a $20 ticket. Plus, I am known as “Dave the Ball Guy,” and I have the pleasure of pulling the balls at our Bingo event. Who can resist seeing that! PALS also operates a low-cost pet vaccination clinic at our Chandler Park office, and we will have one on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

How can the community get involved with PALS Atlanta?

Please support us by attending our event. PALS has been a volunteer-driven organization for the past 33 years. We need volunteers to help us at the office or community outreach events or deliver pet food. We are a small and lean nonprofit that does a lot of work. We also have some board positions available. We need compassionate people to provide our service to those in need for another 33 years!

How can we attend the 2002 Fur Ball Masquerade to Oz?

Tickets are available now at a special price of $100 VIP and $75 General Admission. Price includes full premium open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres, souvenir mask, gift bag, and valet parking. You can get tickets at palsatlanta.org.
