Dear Peach

By Chris González LaCorte

I’ve been feeling really down and out lately. I haven’t been feeling like myself, and I have noticed that my body image issues keep coming back more and more as time goes on. Is there anything that I can do to increase my self-esteem and feel better about myself?

Right now is so hard for so many people. There are so many people who are struggling with their self-esteem after Covid that they can’t seem to shake this depression and constant negative self thoughts. If you can start to understand the other people are feeling the same way then you’ll start to realize that it’s common, and you can start to talk to other people about how you’re feeling. They more than likely also need the help and a shoulder to lean on. If you sit back and just dwell in your depression you’re going to notice that you’re going to become more and more unhappy. And ain’t nobody got time for that! So, relate to other people by understanding that everyone is going through some sense of self-esteem issue, that they constantly think they have to stay quiet and not talk about it because they feel alone, and that these issues are more common than not…and they’re going to come back around in due time. Once you accept that they are going to be a part of your life, you can restructure that thinking and feel better about yourself.
