Party Pieces – How to Dress For a Festive Occasion

By Mik Hyldebrandt

Now that the Holiday season is at its peak and New Year’s Eve is visible in the near future, it’s time to break out the partywear! These clothing items will have you looking stylish during the holidays or any other festive occasion for that matter.

Midnight Blue is the Hue

Elegant without being quite as formal as black, the midnight blue is the color to pick for your jacket. Add a little more dash, and choose a tuxedo jacket, which can be dressed up and down.

Express Men Tuxedo Jacket, $248

Sleek Black Shoes

You want a pair of shoes that can potentially work with your suit, tuxedo, and dressed-down jeans. A sleek, classic black shoe that isn’t pointed or has capped toes will do the trick.

Neat in Knitwear

Sweaters are great for a casual gathering, and if they are fitted right, they can be very stylish. Pick a sweater that can potentially be layered with your jacket – so avoid bulky knits – and go for a knitted cardigan for even more versatility.

Gap Cable-Knit Cardigan, $80

Dark Jeans

A pair of dark or black jeans can easily pass off as an elegant part of your party attire. Needless to say, you need to avoid heavy washes and rips completely.

Abercrombie Athletic Slim Jeans, $78

Talking T-shirt

Wearing a t-shirt under your tux jacket is perfect for a more casual gathering where you want to underline your style. A statement tee is always a good way to spark conversation.

Swish Embassy Christmas Bear T-Shirt, $30

Casual Shirt

A casual, fitted shirt can transition perfectly from the office to a party. If you go for little or no pattern and choose a classic blue, you will look dashing without compromising on comfort.
