The Santaland Diaries Starring Topher Payne

The Santaland Diaries has returned to the Horizon Theatre as a Atlanta Holiday tradition spanning almost two decades. This year is a little different since the role of the satirical, sarcastic elf Crumpet in David Sedaris’ non-traditional and adult-only Christmas comedy will be played by columnist and playwright Topher Payne after Harold Payne has decided to hang up the green tights and pass on the elf hat and booties to a new leading actor.
The alternative Holiday tale has over the years turned into a Christmassy classic serving up a dose of seasonal spirit doused in Scrooge-like cynicism delivered by the character Crumpet, who hilariously depicts his stint as a Macy’s Department Store elf.
Topher Payne brings his own presence and wit to the character, which has grown into an alternative Christmas cult figure. About the part, Topher says: “Taking on the role of Crumpet in The Santaland Diaries is a bold, thrilling challenge I’m eager to face. I’ll be spicing up this iconic role by creating a new atmosphere while providing the same mischievous, ludicrous behavior that continuously brings new and loyal audiences out to see the show!”
If you need a break from the holiday hustle and bustle, this crazy Christmassy comedy is the laughter-inducing remedy.
