THE LATEST GAY COUPLE to walk down the aisle in California is Shaun McCarran and Paul Anderson, the pair discovered by model Janice Dickinson on Oxygen's “The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.”
The newly broadened institution of marriage is not something the handsome duo, who have been together for three years, take lightly.
“Shaun and I feel a tremendous weight of responsibility," says Anderson. "We’re in the spotlight and give that the greatest respect and pride that we can.”
The couple legally ties the knot in L.A. before jetting off to Bora Bora for a ceremony with friends and family. As for “married life,” McCarran doesn’t “know quite what to expect.”
“I don’t really think our relationship will change," he says. "If anything, I think it will unite us more. It will make things more official … I expect a new level of commitment.”
Aw. Good thing they're pretty.
Just for a little fun, David decided we’d test the couple to see how “ready” they are for marriage, a la “The Newlywed Game.” We questioned them separately about their partnership. Here’s what the dynamic duo had to say:
David: How did you meet?
Paul: We met at the gym. Shaun would say we met long before that. Allegedly, he pegged me out long before we really met.
Shaun: I had a boyfriend at the time who introduced us. But, it was kind of over. Paul worked out at the same gym, and he was kind of resistant to dating me. It took love letters and roses to get him to date me.
Was it love at first sight?
Paul: I believe in lust at first sight, but love for me needs foundations and needs to be built. There was definitely lust at first sight.
Shaun: For me it was.
What was your most memorable date?
Paul: It involves a carpet, a living room, me sleeping rolled up in it and a lot of liquor.
Shaun: When we went to North Dakota, we went on a road trip and spent the week there.
Who is more romantic?
Paul: We both are in different ways. I guess I would say Shaun is more romantic. He’s more expressive and assertive.
Shaun: I am.
What is his best attribute?
Paul: His confidence.
Shaun: His ability to listen and understand and accept.
What’s his worst habit?
Paul: Where do I begin? His driving capabilities. He likes to think he’s in the Indy 500.
Shaun: His singing.
If he served you breakfast in bed, what would he serve?
Paul: Grits, and if he knows better, he’d serve me what I usually eat, my homemade bread, eggs, cereal and a big cup of coffee.
Shaun: Bacon, waffles, grits, orange juice.
Where is the craziest place you’ve ever made it?
Paul: I’ll have to think about that….
Shaun: At his mom and dad’s house while his mom and dad were there, and they didn’t know (we were gay). They made us sleep in two different bedrooms, and I snuck into his bedroom. It felt like high school.
