The 2019 Stonewall March
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the Atlanta Pride Committee spearheads the first Stonewall March in Atlanta.
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City that sparked the queer liberation movement and changed LGBTQ history forever. Locally, the events led to the founding of the Georgia Gay Liberation Front.
To honor the legacy of Stonewall, and to highlight the incredible communities and activists that are doing the work here in Atlanta, and throughout the Southeast, the Atlanta Pride Committee has created the 2019 Stonewall March.
The march will mostly take the same route as the Pride Parade and will start at noon at the North Avenue MARTA Station, march down Peachtree Street going northwards, make a right a right onto 10th, left onto Piedmont Avenue, an finally enter Piedmont Park through the 12th Street gate. Following the march, there will be a rally in the park featuring various speakers from the community.
The march will be joined by local LGBTQ organizations but is also open to the public. A special Stonewall March t-shirt can be purchased at outloudshop.com.
